After a strong sales year in China in 2009, Mercedes-Benz is expecting to benefit from further growth in the area next year, it has been stated.
Sales tripled last month based on year-on-year figures to 8,700 units, with these results helping the total for 2009 to climb to 60,700, an increase of 56 per cent on the 12 months previous.
Furthermore, deliveries this year had already equalled those of the whole of 2008 by September, with demand particularly strong for the new-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class and E-Class Saloon.
Dr Joachim Schmidt, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Cars, said: "We posted record sales in every month this year in China and we will continue to grow dynamically there in the future.
"We will expand our presence on the Chinese market next year as well and we expect to continue to grow faster than the market as a whole."
Approximately 2,000 customers selected the S-Class during November, with an additional 1,500 deciding on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Saloon.
Meanwhile, the Chinese market has also successfully launched the Mercedes-Benz B-Class and the smart fortwo in 2009, with a total of 52 different models now available in the region.
