New navigation system keeps smart drivers on the right road

Posted by admin in category Uncategorized at March 14th, 2008, 08:03:50

Mercedes-Benz is offering smart fortwo drivers the ultimate companion to driving through the city in the form of the "portable smart navigation system II".

Fitting perfectly into the interior of the smart fortwo, the navigation system features clear voice output and a high-resolution TFT monitor.

A special mount allows it to be attached directly to the instrument panel while the touchscreen system allows easy operation.

As an instruction is about to be called, the system switches from the radio to the satellite navigation, allowing the driver to hear instructions clearly and is powered by its connection to the car’s own supply.

The system also has a "traffic-jam avoidance function" which works by receiving the Traffic Message Channel signals through the radio and offers drivers the most efficient route.

By pressing "home function" the navigation system is able to calculate the quickest possible route home allowing drivers clear directions with minimal fuss.

Special edition smart let loose at Geneva motorshow

Posted by admin in category Uncategorized at March 6th, 2008, 13:03:10

As the Geneva motorshow begins today (March 6th), Mercedes-Benz is premiering the latest edition of the smart fortwo – the "edition limited two".

Only 2,000 of the vehicles will be produced with high quality materials and light blue metallic finish created for the range making it the ultimate exclusive smart.

Wide tyres on six-spoke alloy wheels demonstrate the elegance and dynamism of the new model while the interior is just as impressive.

Cognac brown leather covers the interior and with heated seats and a three-spoke leather steering wheel complete with paddle gearshift, the exclusive limited two offers drivers stylish and comfortable surroundings.

Meanwhile, matt silver highlights on the speedometer, cockpit clock, rev counter and steering wheel bring contrast to the warm browns and provide a modern touch.

Available as a saloon and a convertible, the model comes with many exciting features to give a luxurious touch.

Electric windows, air conditioning, automatic temperature control, a pollen filter and a panoramic roof can all be found in the saloon model.

Power steering, a lockable glove compartment and surround sound with five loudspeakers give the car a further edge.

A 71bhp petrol engine powers the car along with an automated five-speed transmission and automatic gear programme that also allows manual shift.
